Revealing the Unseen Struggles of Tall and Short Friends
Hello, fabulous readers! Today, we're going to explore the wonderful world of friendship and height. Whether you're tall, short, or somewhere in between, your height comes with its own set of unique struggles and advantages. It's time to shed some light on the five hidden challenges that our tall and short friends face!
Concerts
See, at first glance, average-sized people would only think concerts create disadvantages for shorter people. But have you ever noticed that your tall friend often ends up in the very back of GA, and if they don't, they will get things throw at them! No one wants to feel like a bother. As for our short friends, we all know how uncomfortable and frustrating GA and the pit are, but imagine being unable to see over the stage! With people shoving you and stepping on her toes, it makes for a pretty dissatisfying concert experience. That is why assigned seats are the way to go :)
Group Pictures
In the whimsical world of group photos, height often dictates one's place in the frame. It all started in elementary school for class photos. I, Sydney, was immediately sent to the back row, and my more petite friends were last to be assigned a spot. The struggle between the vertically challenged and their towering counterparts is a timeless tale. For the shorter folks, it's an eternal quest to find that perfect angle, tip-toeing or employing all sorts of creative tactics to make sure they're not relegated to the shadows. On the flip side, the tall individuals must bend and contort themselves like human pretzels to avoid appearing like giants who've accidentally stepped into a Hobbit gathering. As group photos click away, the struggle between the short and the tall is a comical dance of cooperation, compromise, and camaraderie as everyone strives to fit snugly into the frame!
Height related comments
Yes, it's a classic, but it gets old fast. Tall friends endure endless comments about their height, which can sometimes feel like a never-ending cliché. I was once on a family cruise and I was asked so many times I kept track, in 7 days I was 57 times. 57!!! Funny enough, I am never asked, "How is the weather up there?" but ALWAYS, "Do you play basketball?" or "How tall are you??" These height-related comments can be a double-edged sword. On the other hand, Maya has explained similar interactions but about the opposite spectrum, with individuals thinking she is a child or asking how "short" she is. These remarks can sometimes spark good-natured banter but occasionally border on the uncomfortable. In a world where height is just one facet of a person's identity, such comments can be a reminder of the human tendency to stereotype or make assumptions based on appearance, reminding us all to be more mindful of our words and how they may affect others.
Finding Stylish Clothes
The final struggle I think is most prevalent that short and tall individuals often share is the challenge of finding well-fitting clothing. For beautiful petite ladies, hemming pants and rolling up sleeves become routine tasks, while us tall gals search high and low for those elusive "tall" sizes. The average rack at a clothing store rarely caters to these unique body proportions, leaving both groups to adapt, tailor, or settle for garments that never quite fit perfectly. In the world of fashion, the struggle is a reminder that "one size fits all" is a myth, and that individuality, be it in height or any other aspect, should be celebrated, not squeezed into a predetermined mold.
